Fly Ash Handling System Modification

The existing fly ash handling system feeds fly ash directly to the calciner of the pyroprocess system. This system resulted in occasional fly ash flushing through the system and being fed to the calciner. This increased fly ash flow to the calciner upsets the kiln system. The objectives of modifying the existing system were to improve the feed control and flow measurement of the system.

Modifications included replacing two rotary valves with two rotary feeders, modifying two screw conveyors, removing two impact flow meters and a F-K pump, the installation of a Pfister pneumatic weigh feeder, and the installation of a fabric filter system. One of the existing F-K pumps was kept as backup.
