Fugitive Dust Control Ducts Flow Analysis

Evaluating fugitive dust extraction branches, duct junctions and filter inlet conditions to improve airflow distribution and dust capture.

Lower duct airflow paths
Lower duct airflow paths

A computational fluid dynamics study assessed a fugitive dust control duct network connected to a fabric filter. The work examined airflow through extraction branches, duct junctions and the filter inlet, with attention to flow distribution, dust transport and pressure losses.

The model provided detailed views of velocity patterns and local flow behavior at dust extraction points and duct connections. These findings supported a review of duct sizing, potential restrictions and the measures needed to balance airflow at dust capture points. The study informed recommendations for vent hood improvements and refinements to the fugitive dust control duct arrangement.
