Baghouse Flow Assessment
Evaluating gas mixing, temperature variation and airflow distribution to address premature filter bag wear.

An engineering assessment investigated premature filter bag wear in a rotary kiln baghouse. Computational fluid dynamics was used to examine temperature variation, gas mixing and flow distribution through the inlet ducts and filter compartments. Alternative cooling air connections, inlet grids and guide vane arrangements were compared to identify ways to improve operating conditions.
The study included recommendations for more uniform temperature and airflow distribution. The work provided a basis for refining the duct arrangement and addressing conditions that could contribute to bag wear.
